How to Win Capture the Gems in Voxiom - Scoring & Strategy

How to win Capture the Gems in Voxiom.io: the 30-point gem math, Loadout Station picks, the tower-and-tunnels map layout, and when to fight instead of run.

How do you win Capture the Gems?

You win by scoring more points than the ruby or sapphire team on the other side, and the scoring math forces one conclusion: gems are worth 30 points, kills are worth 1. A team that delivers three gems while losing ten duels still beats a team that went 20-and-2 in kills without touching the tower. Play the carrier role seriously and the kill feed takes care of itself.

Capture the Gems (CTG) is Voxiom.io’s flagship team mode, added in update v0.1.9.9. Both teams spawn at fortified bases on opposite ends of the map; between them sits an obsidian gem tower at centre, with ore-rich mine tunnels on each flank.

What should you pick at the Loadout Station?

CTG is the only mode with a Loadout Station at each spawn base: any primary and any secondary combination you want, no class restrictions. The wiki’s guidance is blunt — you can select any combination you like, so your pick should answer the map, not a meta screenshot.

A dependable baseline for newer players:

SlotPickWhy it works in CTG
PrimaryTactical or Combat Assault RifleForgiving recoil for mid-range tower fights
SecondaryMagnum Pistol63 headshot damage at Common; fast swap in tunnel scrapping
UtilityMed Kit materialsThe tower is a meat grinder; healing extends every push

Once you can control recoil, swap the primary for an Elite Assault Rifle or a sniper — the weapon damage tables show why both dominate community tier discussions, and our loadout guide walks full builds per playstyle.

How do you use the map layout?

The CTG map has three lanes, and each lane rewards a different job:

  1. Centre — the gem tower. The extraction point where gems are carried and contested. Fights here are constant, so enter with a plan and cover, not solo.
  2. Mine tunnels — the flanks. Ore veins line the tunnels, letting you mine emeralds mid-match for weapon upgrades. They are also the safest carrier route, since walls eat sniper lanes.
  3. Spawn bases — the supply line. Dying sends you back here, which is why the Loadout Station matters: re-equipping costs seconds, so an upgraded loadout pays off across every respawn.

When should you fight instead of run?

Fight when two conditions hold: you hold the better position, and the enemy is between you and their own base — a dead defender respawns far from the tower. Disengage when the reverse is true. The one exception is the enemy gem carrier: chasing a carrier into bad positions is still usually correct, because killing one restores a 30-point swing their team was about to bank.

That priority order — carrier, then position fights, then everything else — is the whole mode in one sentence.

Does CTG progress my account?

Yes. Competitive modes convert your points into VoxGems at 100 points per gem, and CTG’s gem-heavy scoring makes it one of the better grinding queues — Survival is the only mode that pays nothing.

What if my team ignores the objective?

Play the carrier yourself. One player forcing gem runs every 30 seconds drags an average pub team to wins, because the scoreboard pressure forces enemies to rotate toward you — opening the tower for whoever on your team is paying attention.
